Pediatric Occupational Therapy
Motor Development
While each child is unique, developmental milestone achievement typically occurs in a predictable way. Infants need to have the motor foundations in order to safely and easily perform new motor tasks, including feeding. Therefore, we continuously assess the “whole child” in determining our approach to intervention.
Sensory Processing
Your child takes in so much information each day through their nervous system. Sensory processing involves registering sensory input and either filtering it “in or out”. For example, responding to a parent’s voice vs. attending to background noise. Infants learn purely through their sensory systems which are not yet fully mature at birth. Therefore, it is critical for sensory experiences with your child to be positive in order to promote growth and memories.
